SSAFE is a global non-profit membership organization that strengthens the safe supply and trade of food across the supply chain through public-private partnerships.

Founded in 2003 as a public–private partnership (PPP), SSAFE unites global food industry leaders, intergovernmental organizations, academia and NGOs to advance food safety worldwide. Through collaborative projects SSAFE develops science-based tools and guides that strengthen food systems and protect human, plant and animal health across the world.

SSAFE delivers science-based, freely accessible tools and guidelines that empower food safety professionals and regulators worldwide, making valuable resources that enhance supply-chain integrity and global food safety widely available.

SSAFE’s strategy centers around four core pillars:
1. Support the creation of harmonized international standards
2. Develop free tools that help strengthen the safe supply and trade of food
3. Build capabilities through targeted capacity programs; and
4. Raising awareness of food safety’s vital role in protecting human, plant, and animal health.
Enabled through our strong collaborative partnerships, these activities help drive and ensure a safer and more resilient global food system.
SSAFE collaborates with intergovernmental organizations, academic institutions, and non-profits to tackle food safety challenges globally.
