
To help packaging companies meet requirements in ISO 22000 (food safety management systems) as well as enable certification to a GFSI recognised scheme, SSAFE engaged the British Standards Institution (BSI) to develop a technical specification that set out requirements to assist packaging manufacturers in controlling food safety hazards.
Published in 2011, the technical specification was subsequently submitted to ISO as one of the seed documents of ISO/TS 22002-4:2013 – Prerequisite programmes on food safety — Part 4: Food packaging manufacturing, published in 2013.
